Looking After Our Environment

This week we’ve been looking at ways we can involve the children in taking care of our environment. Raising Awareness of the little things we can all do to protect our world for the future.

Already as a Nursery we have made changes to reduce the amount of plastic we use, by using Tupperware; glass milk bottles, and our choices when we buy fruit and vegetables. Preparing our own teas has also had a positive impact on our use of plastic.

We are always looking for ways we can improve and steps we can take to reduce our waste. We will no longer be using glitter when our current supply has run out. This makes us a little bit sad because everyone loves glitter, but the alternatives are currently too expensive but we will endeavour to be creative, think outside the box and find other ways to add a little sparkle.

During this week it has been clear that some parents already involve their children in helping to sort the recycling. It has been lovely to see them in action and listen to them talking to their peers.

We have been involving the children in reusing and recycling;

saving energy and water; fishing out plastic from ‘our ocean’ to protect ‘our sea creatures’.

We’ve had a go at making our own recycled paper,

And we’ve used boxes to build big models.

What a lovely week; well done Everyone!
